DMCA Notice

Darkweb Market Atlas treats the intellectual property of researchers, journalists, translators, and archivists as something worth defending. What we publish is our own commentary, timelines, and analysis, and we do not set out to host other people’s protected creative work. If something here does reproduce your material without permission, say so — we will read the complaint and act on it. This page explains where to send a claim and what it needs to contain so that it can be handled rather than set aside.

Designated Agent and Where to Send Notices

DMCA correspondence for Darkweb Market Atlas goes to our designated agent at [email protected]. Please put the word “DMCA” in the subject line and send from an address you actually monitor. Notices posted in article comments, sent to a social account, or routed through any other channel may never reach the agent, and a message that does not reach the agent does not start any response clock.

What a Notice Needs to Contain

A takedown request only obliges us to act if it is complete. Please include all six of the following:

  1. Identification of the protected work. Give the title, a registration number if one exists, or a description specific enough that we can tell exactly what you own. If one complaint covers several works, list each of them.
  2. Identification of the material you object to, with its location. Provide the precise URL on this site. A screenshot, a search term, or a general complaint that “the site contains my work” is not sufficient for us to locate anything.
  3. Your contact details. Full legal name, postal address, telephone number, and an email address where we can reply.
  4. A good-faith statement. Confirm that you believe in good faith the use you are complaining about is not authorized by the rights holder, by the holder’s agent, or by law.
  5. A statement under penalty of perjury. Confirm that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act on the holder’s behalf.
  6. Your signature. A typed electronic signature is acceptable.

Counter-Notice Procedure

If material of yours was removed and you think that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to the same agent address. Identify what was taken down and where it had appeared, state under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the removal resulted from error or misidentification, and give your name, address, telephone number, and email. You must also consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court covering your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found) and agree to accept service of process from the person who filed the original complaint. Sign it. We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant and may restore the material if no action is filed within the statutory period.

How Soon You Will Hear From Us

We aim to acknowledge complete notices within 5–10 business days. Incomplete submissions get a reply explaining what is missing. We may remove or disable access to material while a claim is reviewed, and we may suspend accounts that repeatedly draw valid complaints. This page describes our own practice; it is not legal advice.
